The advantages of the crawler are:

1. Low grounding ratio to protect the soil

Use crawler towing operation in dry land to avoid the formation of plow bottom layer to protect moisture and drought; paddy field prevents damage to hard bottom layer and ensure normal farming of paddy field; wheel-towing ground pressure is 3 times that of crawler-towing. Tests show that the seedling emergence rate of cultivated land is compacted by wheel-towing. It is only 30%-40%, and the seedling emergence rate can still reach 80%-90% after the crawler is compacted; the wheel-trailer rut in the paddy field even affects the transplanting and harvesting, and even causes the mud feet to deepen and cannot be cultivated.

2. Great traction, obvious advantages for deep-turning load-bearing operations

The traction power of a crawler of the same weight is 1.4-1.8 times that of a wheeled tractor. In terms of traction efficiency, the maximum traction efficiency of wheeled tractors is 55-65%, and that of crawler tractors can reach 70-80%. The effective power of the towing engine is 15% more than that of the crawling towing.

3. Super passability and climbing ability

Due to the low center of gravity and the large adhesion coefficient, the crawler tractor has good slope stability against overturning and descent. At the same time, it also has the characteristics of small turning radius and strong climbing ability. Farmland and terrace operations are more adaptable than wheeled tractors, especially when equipped with rubber tracks, they are all-terrain operation machinery.

Its biggest disadvantage is the slow driving speed, which is very inconvenient when transitioning. The all-steel crawler will seriously damage the road surface. In some areas, crawler tractors are restricted from being on the road.
