How to Replace Undercarriage Parts on a Crawler Crane Nippon Sharyo DH608
Tracked cranes are powerful machines, but they require regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly. One critical aspect of maintenance is replacing the undercarriage parts. Here are the steps to follow when carrying out this task.

Step 1: Safety
Before you begin any work on the crane, it's essential to ensure that all safety precautions are taken. This includes putting on personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, helmets, gloves, and steel-toe boots. Ensure that the crane is properly secured and supported on a stable, level surface, and that no one is working under the machine.
Step 2: Identify the Parts to Replace
The first step is to identify the components of the undercarriage that need to be replaced. These components include the track shoes, top rollers, bottom rollers, idlers, and sprockets. Inspect them thoroughly for signs of damage, wear, or corrosion. If any of these components are damaged or worn, they must be replaced.

Step 3: Remove Old Components
Use a hydraulic jack to elevate the crawler track, so that you can remove the old components and install new ones. Removing the old components may require the use of specialized tools such as wrenches, pliers, and a pry bar. Remove bolts and nuts carefully and label or keep them in a container to avoid misplacement.
Step 4: Install New Components
The new undercarriage components should be installed in the reverse order of how you removed the old ones. Ensure that the new components are the correct size and type for your crane model and that you refer to the manufacturer's manual if in doubt. Reattach bolts and nuts back into the crane, torquing them to the manufacturer's specifications.
Step 5: Check Tension and Lubrication
After all the new components have been installed, you need to check the track's tension and lubrication to ensure that it is operating correctly. The machine's manual should provide specific instructions on how to carry out these checks. If necessary, adjust the tension and lubrication levels to achieve optimal performance.
