Advantages and disadvantages of crawler cranes
Advantage:
1. The contact area with the ground is large, the average pressure on the ground is small, about 0.05~0.25MPa, and it can be operated on soft and muddy ground.
2. The traction coefficient is high, which is about 1.5 times that of the tire type.
3. Because the supporting surface of the crawler crane is wide, the stability is good, and it is generally not necessary to set the outrigger device like the tire crane.
4. For large crawler cranes, in order to improve the stability during operation, the crawler device is designed to extend laterally to expand the support width.

Disadvantages:
1. The crawler crane travels at a slow speed (1~5km/h) and has poor mobility. It needs to be transported by rail or shipped with a flatbed trailer during transfer operations.
2. The road will be damaged during driving.
3. The crawler chassis is bulky and uses a large amount of steel (a crawler crane with the same power is 50% to 100% heavier than the tire type), and the manufacturing cost is high.
