How to choose the right crawler crane

1. Calculated by the maximum horizontal distance
       The maximum horizontal distance refers to the horizontal distance of the hook extending into the direction of the hanging object under the premise of the normal hoisting operation of the crane arm. Simply put, it is the horizontal distance from the lower shaft of the crane boom to the hook. The maximum horizontal distance (Smax) can be determined by the position of the crawler crane station and the basic position of the equipment determined by the actual situation of the construction site, and the position of the hoisted object.
Calculation formula: Cosa=Smax/L(1) a=arccos(Smax/L)(2)
In the formula: a = the hoisting angle under the hoisting condition of the maximum horizontal distance
Smax = maximum horizontal distance
       The crawler crane is preliminarily selected by the weight of the hoisted object and the maximum horizontal distance, the arm length L of the crawler crane is measured, and the hoisting angle a under the hoisting condition of the maximum horizontal distance is calculated by the calculation formula (2). Come out the mechanical performance table of the crawler crane and check the load weight of the crane. When the lifting weight g < load weight Q on the crawler crane lifting performance table, the crane must be re-selected until Q > g.
2. Through the calculation of the maximum lifting height
       In practical applications, the maximum hoisting height of the crane will be limited. When the boom and the horizontal plane reach a certain angle, the maximum hoisting angle of the crane will be obtained. When the horizontal distance of hoisting is satisfied, the hook will reach the maximum height. The following formula can be obtained :
       Maximum lifting height (Hmax)=H1+H2(3)
       H1=Lsina(4) a=arcsin(H1/L)(5) s=Lcosa(6)
       In the formula: H1 is the distance from the fixed pulley of the crane arm pulley set to the lower shaft of the boom
       H2 is the distance from the lower shaft of the boom to the ground
              L is the length of the boom
              a is the hoisting angle
              S is the horizontal lifting distance
       When the maximum hoisting height is limited, Hmax is a known quantity. The crane is preliminarily selected, and L is also a known quantity. Through formulas (3) to (6), the hoisting angle a and the horizontal distance s can be obtained. Check the hoisting load weight g according to the mechanical performance table of the supplementary selection crane according to a, s. When the lifting weight g on the crawler crane lifting performance table < load weight Q, the crane must be re-selected until Q > g until.
       Note: When the maximum hoisting height is not affected by on-site environmental factors, the tonnage of the crane can be determined according to Smax. When the maximum hoisting height is affected by environmental factors, the calculation of Smax and Hmax must be carried out, and the final result is obtained through analysis and comparison. Determine whether to use Smax or Hmax to determine the crane tonnage.
